The Independent Film Parliament presents:

LOCAL FILM CULTURE, GLOBAL EXCHANGE

Institut Français, London Wednesday November 30th , 2005

A government review of film policy is currently underway. Globally, UNESCO has launched an initiative to sustain diversity in national cultures. This day event, in the UK's largest region of grassroots, independent filmmakers, is your chance to debate and feed back. Add your experience and ideas to the IFP report to be delivered to the government and the UK Film Council in December.

What policies do we need to keep our film culture diverse and thriving?……Should festivals be the best chance to see the range of international cinema?…..Is there enough support for productions below the tax-break line?…..What role for broadcasters in a pay-to-view era?…..

Will international policy keep faith with tomorrow's viewers?

National and international speakers active in policy areas will join some of our most innovative and independently-minded film practitioners to address these questions, including leading Canadian actor Pierre Curzi; award winning UK director, Pawel Pawlikowski (tbc); cultural analyst and advisor Baroness Lola Young; and the director of the National Film and Television School and Acting Chairman of The European Film Academy, Nik Powell.

Join us for a day to discuss what the moving image can offer as an architect of ideas and understanding in our diverse society.

Tickets for the event are priced at £40 for individuals and £75 for institutions.

REGISTRATION: On-line registration available from mid-October or contact the IFP office on (44) 207 690 0124.
